Santa Maria Di Leuca is a famous balnear resort, located between two seas: the Ionian Sea and th Adriatic Sea, is one most beautiful places in Puglia. It is a pearl of the extreme strip of Italy and is located on a part of the coast alternated by cliffs and small sandy coves. Its several grottos have an historical and naturalistic interest and its marine sounding-depth are a real paradise for underwater tourism. Its an island full of history and culture, wonderful landscape to be admired, magnificent and colourful villa of the nineteenth century that slope down towards the sea-front.

Very important to mention is the sanctuary called “Finis Terrae” located on the top of the village from where you can see the entire beach of Santa Maria di Leuca - a great and rare landscape- and also the famous lighthouse, one of the most important in Italy( 50m height) and can be seen from many kilometers away. Leuca is the meeting point of the waters from the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea and is characterized by fishing and tourism. In the ancient times, it was a very important point of meeting between the ones travelling between the Orient and the Mediteranean Sea. The column on the front of the sanctuary was built in 1694 by Laura Guarini, wife of Alessano and of the column is a statue raprsenting Saint Mary.

How to arrive to Santa Maria di Leuca

By car: You must take the highway until you arrive in Bari, after that follow the highway S.S 16 to Lecce- Maglie- Leuca, and after Maglie you must follow the indications to Santa Cesarea Terme and once arrived there you must go on to the sea road.
By train: You must arrive at the station of Lecce and from there we advice you to consult the site www.salentoinbus.it and you can finda bus that the administration of Lecce provides during the summer period in order to help tourists.
By plane: From the Brindisi airport, you can rent a car, or once arrived to Lecce by bus you can choose to take or the train or another bus.
